Goodnestone

Goodnestone village is situated about 2 miles north west of Chillenden.  It is the home of the Fitzwalter family and of Goodnestone House and Gardens.  There is a Grade I listed parish church, a primary school and a pub, The Fitzwalter Arms.  Village website: goodnestone.org.uk  Goodnestone Park and Gardens:  goodnestoneparkgardens.co.uk




Knowlton

Knowlton is a small hamlet just ½ mile south east of Chillenden.  It is dominated by the Knowlton Court House, farm and estate. There is a redundant church, St Clements which is cared for by the Churches Preservation Trust and is open to visitors on request.  Knowlton is also the only village in Kent known as one of ‘The Thankful Villages’ as all of its menfolk who went to battle in the first world war returned home safe.  Website: knowltoncourt.co.uk




Gibson’s Farm Shop

The Gibson family have farmed in the Chillenden area for many years and there has been a farm shop at Little Crockshard since the 1970s.  The new farm shop prides itself on selling locally farmed and reared produce.  It has a butchers, a florist and a very popular cafe.
