The Consultation Report on the future of the Kent Windmills has been published. The report will be presented to Members of the Environment and Transport Cabinet Committee on 9 July. In the report there were 87% of respondents against their proposal to divest.

We have now found in the Agenda for next Tuesday’s meeting that the recommendation by KCC is still to divest themselves of the windmills. Interestingly even if the Committee vote against it and want to retain them (that committee last time only voted by 6 to 5 to even go to consultation) the Cabinet Member for Environment can single handedly override that decision. Very worrying perversion of democracy in my view, especially as 87% of the 2300 consulted opposed the selling off. A big thank you to all of you who took the time to respond to the Consultation.
